It's been a while since I've found time to focus on the blog, in fact other than a quick post last week I see I haven't been here at all since the New Year (note to self: must do better!) A lovely break at Christmas recharged the battery pack for the year ahead and it's been a time of planning for the business, as well as trying to feel a little more organised on the home-front.
Now, some fabulous stock is set to be introduced to the website and I am expecting to be falling over boxes of lovely new stuff in the next few weeks, the unpacking of which is a task I consider to be the best part of my job!
A wider selection of quilt, swaddle and muslin designs from the fabulous MoochicBaby, of which we already stock some, will probably arrive first, followed shortly by the complete range of beautiful bedlinen for babies, toddlers and grown-up kids from Lulu & Nat.
I'm particularly excited about becoming a stockist of the children's bedlinen designs from Lulu & Nat, a brand that first caught my eye even before Ginger & May launched. Inspired by ancient block-printing techniques and the textiles of India and mixed with contemporary designs, Lulu & Nat have achieved a fresh, colourful collection of printed bedlinen for boys and girls that should appeal both to child and parent, hence are a great fit for what we're aiming to achieve at Ginger & May. With babies and toddlers catered for too, this is another range we are delighted to have on our "shelves".
Also on their way soon will be a re-stock and some more duvet designs from #Bedding, a brand that is brilliant for older boys in particular, along with the new-ish collection of Hello Kitty Liberty Art duvet sets for girls (our one concession to character bedlinen!) and Darcey Bussell's girls' bedding for those with a budding ballerina to satisfy. Quentin Blake's illustrations on a new range of children's duvets featuring scenes from three of Roald Dahl's best loved books - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, The Enormous Crocodile and Matilda - have won me over and so these are being added to our mix too. Unfortunately not available for toddler beds, these designs do all have the benefit of being available as double duvets as well as singles. From sales and enquiries we know that there are many children out there with double beds for which finding age-appropriate bedding can be tricky, so hope these designs will help!
Several other brands are also coming soon, including the fabulous, contemporary bedding of Ferm Living and Anorak, more of which later, and we also plan to start our very own range of products with the introduction of a handmade lampshade collection. Who knows, our own range of children's bedlinen may be next...well, maybe next year.
Wishing everyone a very happy 2014 (belatedly, sorry!)
