What is Organic Cotton?
Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Buying organic supports environmentally friendly agricultural methods, and processes such as spinning, weaving, washing and dyeing are undertaken in an environmentally responsible way. If a cotton is also promoted as being Fairtrade, this means that the cotton farmers are paid a reasonable or premium price for their cotton without exploitation.
Organics for Kids are one or our principal brands that use solely organic cotton. They have Soil Association Certification, a supply chain that conforms to criteria of the Ethical Trading Initiative, and they adhere to the Global Organic Textile Standards. The dyes used are not organic in themselves but meet the Oeko-tex 100 standard which protects against harmful substances.
